Kennewick, WA — The American Red Cross has completed a major renovation and expansion of its Kennewick collection center, strengthening its ability to serve the Tri-Cities community through lifesaving blood collection, disaster response, and emergency services. The project was completed by O’Brien Construction, a commercial general contracting firm based in the Tri-Cities.

The American Red Cross plays a vital role in the community, ensuring lifesaving blood supplies are available and providing critical support during disasters and emergencies. The newly renovated and expanded Kennewick facility represents an important step in meeting local needs while improving access and functionality for donors, staff, and volunteers.

O’Brien Construction completed both the renovation of the existing structure and the addition to the facility, delivering a modernized space designed to support the Red Cross mission now and into the future.

Adding a unique dimension to the project is its full-circle story. When Zak O’Brien was approximately 20 years old, he helped build the original Red Cross building in Kennewick. Years later, as president of O’Brien Construction, his company returned to renew and expand the same facility.
